Weigh-in

Not a lot to report sadly…I have not lost any weight this week, but I have not gained any either and still weigh in at 80.1kg.

I am yearning to say goodbye to the 80′s and see the 70′s on the scale but seeing as I can barely walk atm I am pleased that I have been able to maintain.  My pelvis is definitely out of place and my specialist has not been able to see me yet…so I am stuck in limbo.

I’ll make as good an effort as I can this week with my eating and see how it feels using the exercise bike on the lowest setting.  I am hanging in there and still working towards my weight loss goals.

January 18th Weigh-In

80.1 kg      or      176.59 lbs

LOST 0.5 kg/ 1.1 lbs

16.1 kg / 33.3 lbs TO GO!

BMI = 28.9 (8.4 points down)

TOTALS = 23.4 kg/ 51.59 lbs LOST SO FAR!

60.78 % OF WAY TO GOAL!

Not such an impressive weight loss this week…but then again it doesn’t have to be a huge number right?  Another pound is gone and…any loss is a step in the right direction :)   So I am happy!  I CAN’T WAIT until I conquer the 80′s …..hopefully this week. I admit my weight is quite up today with 80.6kg which puts me at the same weight from last week….but I am putting lowest weekly weight.

My pain from the leg is slowly improving.  On Friday I noticed how much damage had happened to my hamstring and had trouble straightening the leg.  It’s sort of nice to have more muscular injury pain than nerve damage pain though…and I am slowly getting back into exercising which then allows me to do proper stretching.

I’ll check in on all my regulars later on and check for new bloggers. Have a great week and stay focused everyone.

Hyper-mobility rant

Anyone who has hyper-mobility knows that your body can be unreliable with weird and sometimes serious injuries occurring from doing very little.  I have been fairly lucky all things considered and for most of my life have not had to deal with daily pain that so many others have to deal with…that was until my pelvis moved out of place.

Some of the sudden injuries I have had are:

* Shoulder dislocated while I was in my car pulling into a driveway.  The bump from the curb while my arm was on the steering wheel popped it out.  I think I have had 6 shoulder dislocations in total.

* When I was little my Mum was holding my hand and pulled a little when it was time to cross the road.  This resulted in a dislocated elbow.

* Picking up a cooking pot caused the cartilage in my wrist to pop out.

* Had a partial hip dislocation when my ballet teacher grabbed hold of my leg and said “Your leg can go much higher than that!” and yanked it up…and out.

* My ribs regularly detach themselves from my vertebrae and ribcage.  This can be a moment of acute pain to several days of hell.

There are more but I won’t bore you.  The result is that over time my body has become more and more unstable but also that I learned I can’t really control injuries happening a lot of the time.. as my body is unpredictable. I am however blessed with some stability as I am naturally quite muscular and gain muscle tone easily and my lower body is a lot more stable, so I don’t have knee and ankle issues.

The issues I have had since my pelvis  twisted out of place while I was sleeping 2 years ago have been debilitating.  If you have read my posts you’ll know that my treatment had been going really well until recently and hence I was able to start walking, then exercising and find the motivation to start losing weight again.

The last 5 weeks has been pretty bad again and after my last treatment my pelvis had moved out of place before I even got home (I think).  So I have stuck it out and finally saw my specialist again today.  The dysfunction has always been on the left hand side…but today it turned out that the dysfunction has now moved over to the right hand side and is still causing the intense nerve pain on the left!  I really can’t get a break.  Anyway after some gentle and not so gentle prodding, pushing and pulling I am back in place and the pain has decreased significantly since my session this morning.  I hope to be able to try riding the exercise bike again tomorrow and get back to lowering my weight.  Weight has been a little bit up all week after 2 poor dinners last weekend and no exercise….I have to admit I am disappointed in myself for the first time in ages and lacking motivation for the first time in this journey (even though I know much of what’s going on is out of my control).  I need to find that enthusiasm again …so…. here’s hoping that I remain stable and more and more pain free each day and get a little closer to my goal this week and dropping even a tiny bit of weight.

January 11th Weigh In

80.6 kg      or      177.69 lbs

LOST 0.9 kg/ 1.98 lbs

15.6 kg / 34.4 lbs TO GO!

BMI = 29.1 (8.2 points down)

TOTALS = 22.9 kg/ 50.49 lbs LOST

SO FAR! = 59.48 % OF WAY TO GOAL!

First proper weigh in after operation maintain and I am back on track.  I am still getting over this damn cold but the phlegm problem is slowly improving.  I am also still having huge pain problems with my sciatic nerve due to my pelvis shifting out of place and am looking forward to see my specialist again on Thursday.  Hopefully we can get my pelvis back into place and keep it there.  Exercise has been really difficult, but I rode the exercise bike 3 times during the week but didn’t get a good sweat up like I usually do as my leg doesn’t allow me to cycle very hard.  Can’t wait to be able to walk more than 2 minutes without pain again and get back to exercising properly.

Such a huge setback in my recovery has been difficult mentally to cope with and get frustrated and cry sometimes and think it would be easier to cut the damn thing off ….that was until I was at the pharmacy the other day getting a script for anti-inflammatory medication filled and saw a man with one leg.  I could see him watching me limping and probably wishing he had his leg, even if were horribly painful.  I’ll hang in there and hope things get better soon.

It has also been insanely cold here lately.  Not that Norway isn’t always cold in my opinion, but this winter is freaky!  On Friday night we had -24°C (that’s -11.2°F).  Day time temperatures have been around -16°C and it does not encourage you to eat well or be active.

I have also decided to make a change to my weigh-ins.  As I started my period today and that causes the usual bloating, I decided to post my lowest weight from the week.  I will continue to do it that way from now on as I have noticed that if we have a cheat meal on a Saturday that it takes about 2 days to catch up with me but by Tuesday it will have gone down again….so this is easier and still legit :)

Also, did you notice?  I have lost 50 pounds!  I hope I can drop enough this week to drop under the 80kg mark too!  I am determined to do well this week despite all the difficulties and make good food choices at the very least.

How has everyone else fared?

Up and Down

Who knows what’s going on with my body over the last week!?

After several days weighing in at around 82kg and my horrible 82.3kg weigh in yesterday…I weighed 81.1kg this morning.  I moved the scales around and made sure it was completely level and tried several times and 81.1kg!  This is great news.  We’ll see how it behaves for the rest of the week.  Good news :)

January 4th Weigh In

Gah it has happened.  The evilness of the silly season took its toll on me.

I haven’t exercised in weeks, eaten pretty much what the hell I wanted and to top it off I came down with a cold on Christmas day and I am still coughing up gobs of phlegm.  Charming I know…sorry.

The sciatic nerve pain in my leg has been pretty awful too and doesn’t encourage me to want to exercise at all…in fact just walking a little and standing is very painful right now.  I can’t wait for my specialist to return from her holidays.  Although last time she popped me back in I am guessing I popped out fairly much straight after leaving the doctor’s surgery.

Anyway….the inevitable has happened and I am really sad to say that my current weight is UP.

82.3kg or 181.44 lbs

This sucks big time but I guess that all things considered it could be a lot worse.  I just need to motivate myself into jumping back onto the plan big time this week.  I will try exercising despite the pain and illness I guess.

I am off overseas mid March and really want my weight to be as low as possible before I go.  Here’s to another week in the journey.  The diet is not blown and I am sure there will be movement in the right direction during the week.
